What Video Aspect Ratio Should I Use for My Webinar?

The recommended aspect ratio for a Stealth Seminar webinar video is 16:9, also known as widescreen.
Stealth Seminar detects the format of your uploaded video and processes it accordingly:
  • Widescreen videos are played in 16:9.
  • Videos that are not widescreen are processed in 4:3.
The aspect ratio describes the shape of the video frame. It is different from the video’s resolution or file size.

Common aspect ratios

Aspect ratio Description Example dimensions
16:9 Widescreen 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720
4:3 Standard format 1440 × 1080 or 1024 × 768
For the best viewing experience on modern desktop and mobile screens, we recommend recording or exporting your webinar video in 16:9 widescreen.

What happens when I upload a video?

Stealth Seminar automatically detects the aspect ratio of your original video during processing.

If your video was recorded in widescreen format, it will be processed and played as 16:9. If it was recorded in another format, it will be processed as 4:3 instead.

Stealth Seminar does not include video editing tools for changing the shape or layout of your video. If you want to convert a video to widescreen, edit and export it before uploading it to your Stealth Seminar Library.

Common Questions

What if my video is vertical or square?

Vertical and square videos are not widescreen videos. If you upload one of these formats, it may not display in the way you expect on a widescreen webinar player.
For the most consistent presentation, place the video into a 16:9 project before exporting. You can then crop the footage or add a background so that the entire video fits the widescreen frame.

Can I change the aspect ratio inside Stealth Seminar?

No. Stealth Seminar processes the video based on the format of the uploaded file, but it does not provide video editing tools for changing the aspect ratio.
To change the aspect ratio:
  1. Edit the video on your computer.
  2. Export it in the desired format, preferably 16:9.
  3. Upload the edited file to your Library.
  4. Use the new file in your webinar.

What is the maximum size allowed for webinar video?

There is no limit for local files (files you upload from your computer). However, if you are uploading from a URL, the limit is 20GB per file.
