Where Can I Host My Webinar Video?

You do not need a separate video-hosting service for a prerecorded webinar. For Automated Webinars, Dedicated Replays, and the prerecorded part of Hybrid Webinars, you can choose a video from your video library or upload an .mp4   file directly during webinar setup. Livestream Webinars use a live stream from YouTube Live or Twitch instead.

Choose the Right Option

Webinar type What to use
Automated Webinar Choose a video from your library, upload an .mp4   file, or use the placeholder video.
Dedicated Replay Choose a video from your library, upload an .mp4   file, or use the placeholder video.
Livestream Webinar Select YouTube Live Link or Twitch under Livestream Source. A prerecorded video is not required during setup.
Hybrid Webinar Select YouTube Live Link or Twitch, then choose a Pre-recorded Webinar Video and a Backup Ending.

The available video choices are Use placeholder video, Browse Library, and Upload my video. When uploading a file through the setup screen, only .mp4  videos are supported.

The available livestream sources are YouTube Live Link and Twitch. Other livestream providers are not available in the livestream source list.

Add Your Video While Creating a Webinar

  1. Open the webinar creation screen. The first step is called Set Up Your Webinar.
  2. Enter your Webinar Name.
  3. Select a Webinar Type.
  4. For an Automated Webinar or Dedicated Replay, open Webinar Video and choose one of these options:
    • Use placeholder video — use the account’s placeholder video while you prepare your recording.
    • Browse Library — choose a video that is already available in your video library.
    • Upload my video — select an .mp4   file from your computer.
  5. If you upload a video, keep the upload open until it reaches 100%. Allow additional time for the video to finish processing before testing it.
  6. For a Hybrid Webinar, select a Livestream Source, then choose the Pre-recorded Webinar Video and Backup Ending.
  7. For a Livestream Webinar, select a Livestream Source. Before each scheduled event, add the live stream link in the Live Console.
  8. Finish the remaining setup, then click Create.

If You Do Not Have a Video Yet

If Use placeholder video is available, select it while you prepare your recording.

If the placeholder option is not available, choose Browse Library to select another video or choose Upload my video to upload an .mp4   file.

Before You Start

Have one of the following ready:

  • An .mp4   video for an Automated Webinar or Dedicated Replay.
  • A prerecorded video and a Backup Ending video for a Hybrid Webinar.
  • A YouTube Live or Twitch account for a Livestream Webinar or the live part of a Hybrid Webinar.

If your recording is not ready yet, you can use the placeholder video while you finish preparing it.

How to Check Your Setup

For an Automated Webinar, Dedicated Replay, or the prerecorded part of a Hybrid Webinar:

  1. Confirm that the selected video appears in the video field.
  2. If you uploaded a file, confirm that the upload has finished and the video has completed processing.
  3. Preview the registration and watch pages.
  4. Watch the beginning of the webinar to confirm that the video starts and plays correctly.
  5. If you use timed calls to action or other timed features, make sure they still appear at the correct time.

If you replace a video with one that has a different length, review your timed calls to action and other timed settings afterward.

For a Livestream Webinar or the live portion of a Hybrid Webinar:

  1. Confirm that YouTube Live Link or Twitch is selected under Livestream Source.
  2. Open the Live Console before the event.
  3. Add a valid live stream URL at least 30 seconds before the scheduled start.
  4. Start the webinar and confirm that the live stream appears for viewers.

Common Issues and Solutions

Problem Solution
I do not have a recording yet. Select Use placeholder video, if available. You can replace it with your recording later.
I want to paste a Vimeo or YouTube recording link. The current prerecorded video picker does not include a URL option. Save or download the recording as an .mp4   file, then choose Upload my video.
My upload is not moving. Keep the upload window open until it reaches 100%. Then allow time for the video to finish processing.
I cannot find my video in Browse Library. Make sure the upload and processing are complete, then return to Webinar Video and choose Browse Library.
My livestream provider is not listed. The available livestream sources are YouTube Live Link and Twitch.
My Hybrid Webinar does not have a live stream. Select a Backup Ending. It plays instead of the live portion if a live-stream URL is not supplied in time or the live portion does not start.
I cannot select Use placeholder video. Your account may not have a placeholder video. Choose a video from Browse Library or upload an .mp4   file instead.
