How do I enable/disable fast forward?

You can control whether attendees can fast-forward or rewind your webinar video from the Video Controls setting in Advanced Setup.

Before you change the settings

NOTE: If your webinar has already been shared or has active attendees, changing the video controls will affect what those attendees see. Fast forward should only be enabled this way for testing or demonstrations.

If the webinar is already being promoted or shared, duplicate the webinar first. This allows you to test the setting without changing the version your attendees are using.
Also, changing the video controls may reset and will disable your Audience Interaction and Audience Reporting (including poll results) settings. Make a note of those settings before changing the video controls so you can restore them afterward.

How to enable fast forward

  1. Open the webinar editor by clicking on the hyperlinked name of the webinar or the 3 dots and clicking Edit Webinar.
  2. Click the Advanced Setup navigation tab (at the top right of the page).
  3. Scroll down and click Advanced - Webinar Setup to open the drop-down menu of customization options
  4. Scroll down to Video Controls.
  5. Select All Controls.
  6. Click Updated Webinar.
The All Controls setting allows attendees to use playback controls, including fast forward and rewind.

How to disable fast forward

  1. Open the webinar in the Webinar Editor.
  2. Select Webinar.
  3. Open Advanced - Webinar Setup.
  4. Scroll down to Video Controls.
  5. Select one of the following options:
    • Volume Controls and Full Screen
    • Volume Controls Only
  6. Click Update Webinar.

These settings remove the fast-forward and rewind controls from the attendee video player.

NOTE: For most live or shared webinars, change the setting back to All Controls after testing. This prevents attendees from skipping through the webinar when you do not want them to.

Preview your changes

After saving, use the Preview option to confirm how the video controls appear to attendees.
Check that:
  • Fast forward and rewind are available when All Controls is selected.
  • Fast forward and rewind are hidden when Volume Controls and Full Screen or Volume Controls Only is selected.
  • Your Audience Interaction and Audience Reporting settings are still configured correctly.
You can preview the webinar before sharing it with attendees.

Common Questions

Will attendees see the fast-forward controls immediately?

If the webinar is active or has already been shared, attendees may see the updated controls after you save the change. For that reason, only change this setting on a live webinar if you intentionally want to give attendees access to fast forward and rewind.

Which setting enables fast forward?

Select All Controls under Video Controls. This enables playback controls, including seeking through the video.

Can I allow fast forward on a replay but not on the original webinar?

The standard video control setting applies to the webinar configuration being edited. If you need to test or use different controls without changing the original webinar, we recommend that you duplicate the webinar and configure the duplicate separately.

Why did my Audience Interaction or Audience Reporting settings change?

Changing the video controls can reset or alter those settings. Note their existing values before enabling fast forward, then restore them after testing (this should only be if necessary).
