For live webinars, your attendees can chat live with you using the chat box under the webinar player. 

As an admin/host, you will find the chat box in your live console. When someone sends in a message, that chat box will be showing you that new chat message in real time and your answer from there, will be received by the attendees in real time as well.

These messages will be saved automatically in the chat manager as well.
